The Karla is the third collaboration between Danish designer Jesper Kromann-Andersen and Current Designs. This installment brings even more nimbleness and wave riding capability to the paddler, and catches the wave (get it?) of open water paddlers moving towards boats shorter than the old standard 17 footers.
Compared to the Sisu, the Karla is 9" shorter and a touch narrower, but with additional volume in the bow as added measure against perling (the nose burying under the wave face). The Karla is a user friendly kayak to being your exploration of the surf zone and facilitate your adventures. Expert paddlers will equally appreciate this dynamic design. Don't let the 21" beam scare you: the fit of this boat is plenty comfortable for people moving from 24" wide boats, with an ergonomically designed cockpit that you'll love at first sit.
The LV version of the boat is a good fit for paddlers up to 6' tall and up to 200 lbs. Available in standard fiberglass as well as in extra durable aramid, and with standard layup as well as Heavy Water layup with additional fabric in the deck, the Karla is one of those boats to consider if you can only have one.
