The ULVÖN'S shallow v-hull and extended waterline gives it excellent glide and the highest speed profile in the Melker line. With the large volume in the bow, the kayak offers an exceptional performance catching bigger waves and swells, while the medium-hard chines give the kayak a great end stability and maneuverability, offering responsive and comfortable carving turns.
The smooth cockpit with knee-bracing space integrated into the deck is optimized for efficient power strokes and rotation, and is further customized for excellent comfort and great convenience during entry and exit, even for the larger paddlers. The adjustable, ergonomic and padded seat in combination with optimal legroom give you great control in the tougher conditions and exceptional comfort during the full day’s ride.
"Despite the get-yer-move-on’s load-carrying capacity, paddling (the Ulvon) empty revealed a completely different soul: light, playful and maneuverable. It’s easy to tilt onto the chine to shorten the waterline and carve a quick turn." - Paddling Magazine
Two big oval hatches in the aft and bow make it easy to pack all the needed gear, while the big 20cm day hatch is placed directly behind the cockpit. The smart recessed area on the fore deck, just in front of the cockpit, holds the water bottle or the pump in place and out of the way.
The kayak is designed by award winning design engineer Magnus de Brito, working closely with Melker Kayaks’ design team. With Melker Ulvön we take yet another step towards fulfilling Melker Kayaks’ vision of producing kayaks with zero environmental impact.
